Insights Agent

The Insights Agent is an AI-powered, conversational reporting assistant in Commerce Growth. It integrates with existing Commerce Growth reporting APIs and surfaces campaign performance data (e.g., spend, sales, ROAS, clicks, impressions, visits, omnichannel sales, app installs, video metrics, and more) in a chat-like interface.

Instead of configuring multiple custom reports, you can ask a question in plain language (for example, show me ROAS by device last month) and receive tables and charts in seconds directly in the Insights Agent panel.

How does the Insights Agent work?

At a high level, Insights Agent:

  1. Receives your prompt in natural language (for example, show me daily spend and ROAS for Campaign Z over the last 7 days).

  1. Processes the request with Criteo Commerce AI, using the same underlying reporting data and APIs that power Commerce Growth Custom Reports.

  1. Returns visualized data – tables and charts – in a conversational interface inside Commerce Growth, often with follow-up suggestions based on your context.

What can you do with Insights Agent?

The Insights Agent focuses on reporting and analysis in Commerce Growth. It acts as an analysis companion that helps you get the reporting views you need faster and more often. You can use Insights Agent for:

Campaign performance monitoring & reporting
  • Pull key metrics like spend, clicks, impressions, conversions, revenue, ROAS, omnichannel sales/ROAS, visits, video metrics, app installs, CPI, and more at campaign, ad set, or account level.

  • View trends over time (daily, weekly, monthly, or custom ranges) to see if performance is improving or declining.

  • Compare time periods or entities, such as this week vs. last week, Q3 vs. Q2, or one campaign vs. another.

  • Check campaign and ad set status to confirm that key ad sets are active and delivering as expected.

Troubleshooting & anomaly detection

When results change unexpectedly, Insights Agent helps you investigate:

  • Identify underperforming campaigns or ad sets, for example, those with the lowest ROAS and high spend or the worst CTR.

  • Drill into performance changes (such as a cost spike or sales drop) by device, country, ad format, time of day, and more.

  • Compare recent days vs. previous periods to see if a change is a short-term fluctuation or a sustained trend.

Strategy fine-tuning & opportunity identification

Insights Agent can highlight where to double down and where to adjust:

  • Break down results by country, region, device, format, or objective to find high- and low-performing segments.

  • Support objective-based analysis, such as Acquisition vs. Retention, to understand which strategies are most effective.

  • Compare attribution models (for example, 30-day post-click vs. 7-day post-click) to align reporting with client expectations.

Visualizations and outputs

Insights Agent returns:

  • Data tables and charts directly inside the conversational interface, so you get both numerical and visual views without leaving Commerce Growth.

  • Follow up on suggestions or additional slices when you include context in your prompt (for example, I’m preparing a QBR or I’m troubleshooting a sales drop).

Supported metrics and dimensions

Insights Agent uses the same metrics and dimensions available in Commerce Growth Custom Reports. Examples include:

  • Metrics: Audience, Clicks, Cost, CPC, CPM, CTR, Displays, Reach, Frequency, Visits, Qualified Visits, Sales, Revenue, ROAS, iROAS, Omnichannel Revenue / Sales / ROAS, Offline revenue/sales/visits, App installs, CPI, CPV, Video completion rate, Bounce rate, Win rate, and more.

  • Dimensions: Advertiser, Marketing campaign, Campaign, Media type, Marketing campaign goal, Category, Device, OS, Ad channel, Ad social network, Year/Month/Week/Day/Hour, Ad, Ad format, Display size, Video placement, SSP, Country, Region, and others.

Best practices and tips

  • Be clear and specific about what you want to see (campaign name or ID, objective, key metrics, and breakdowns like device or country).

  • Always specify a time range using exact dates or phrases like last 7 days, last month, or Q3 2025.

  • List the exact metrics and dimensions you care about (for example: spend, sales, ROAS by device and country).

  • Mention when you want to override defaults such as attribution model, time zone, or currency.

  • Add brief contexts like I’m preparing a QBR or I’m troubleshooting a sales drop so the agent can suggest useful follow-up questions.

  • Start broad (overall performance) and then iterate with follow-up prompts to zoom into specific campaigns, geos, or formats.

  • Rephrase or add more detail if a response isn’t what you expected, rather than starting from scratch.

  • Use the thumbs up/down and comments to share feedback, so future responses get more accurate and helpful for your use cases.

Insights Agent - Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Will Insights Agent replace manual reports?

No. Custom Reports remain fully available and supported. Insights Agent is designed to:

  • Cover most day-to-day questions faster (health checks, comparisons, QBR starting views).

  • Make it easier for more users to self‑serve analytics.

  • Reduce reliance on “report experts” for basic questions.

For highly specialized analyses or exports that require specific layouts or offline processing, you can continue using Custom Reports as usual.

What types of questions should I ask the Insights Agent?

You can ask questions tied to campaign performance, reporting, and analytics in Commerce Growth, such as:

  • Show me sales, spend, and ROAS for my acquisition campaigns last month.

  • Compare performance this week vs. last week by device.

  • Which campaigns had the lowest ROAS but the highest spend in Q3?

Does Insights Agent change my data access or permissions?

No. It is simply a conversational layer on top of the reporting data you already have. Insights Agent:

  • Works within your existing account permissions and data access.

  • Does not grant access to any campaigns, reports, or data you couldn’t already see in Commerce Growth.

How does Insights Agent handle privacy and compliance?

Insights Agent is privacy-first and compliant:

  • No PII or protected traits are exposed.

  • Outputs are aggregated at the campaign, ad set, or segment level.

  • The agent will not speculate or fabricate data and will refuse out-of-policy or sensitive requests.

How can I share feedback about Insights Agent?

You can provide feedback directly in the tool. This feedback is monitored by the product and R&D teams and helps prioritize fixes and improvements. You can:

  • Use the thumbs up/down controls on individual responses.

  • Add comments, where available, to explain what worked well or what was missing.
