Transparency and Consent Framework

The Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) is a self-regulatory initiative developed by IAB Europe in collaboration with organizations and professionals in the digital advertising and publishing industries. It was created to help all participants who display and manage digital advertising comply with the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive when processing personal data and/or accessing and/or storing information on a user’s device.

By applying this framework, websites can inform their users of what data is being collected and how vendors are going to use this data for over a dozen granular business processing purposes. For each one of these items, users can give or deny consent, and their choices can then be shared with other players in the ecosystem.

As an advertiser, you have two options to make sure Criteo can respect your user choices:

  • You can use a Consent Management Platform (CMP) that is TCF-compliant to help you comply with GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive. When set to TCF mode, your websites automatically provide us with your users' choices, which will be enforced by Criteo, because OneTag supports IAB’s TCF.

  • You can manually control your user choices and then trigger Criteo’s OneTag only when the user has consented to work with Criteo.
